ADB supports Da Nang improve disaster risk management On March 11, Vice Chairman of Danang People’s Committee Phung Tan Viet received the Asian Development Bank’s expert delegation of disaster risk management. At the meeting, the two sides focused on discussing on technical support program to handle risk disaster and climate change through improving land-sue and management indicators.

Mr. Arghya Sinha Roy, head of the delegation said that consultants selected four countries of Vietnam, the Philippines, Nepal and China for detail study because the countries are at high risk of natural disasters and climate change. The total investment for regional projects is US$ 700 thousand and will fund the Danang delegation to attend the workshop on disaster risk management and climate change in the Philippines in the coming time. The final product is a set of guidelines for policy makers on disaster risk management and climate change based on the reality of each locality.


In the meeting, the Vice Chairman agreed with the content of the ADB’s project. He also stressed that Danang is a city suffering from climate change and disasters. So that Danang has built a plan in respond to climate change in the future.


He recommended that ADB should focus on reviewing the effects of the disaster risk management through land use indicators and disaster risk management guidelines through integrating urban planning management.
