OVERCOMING DIFFICULTIES TO NURTURE DREAMS
Coming to Ninh Tinh 3 quarter, ward 9, Tuy Hoa city, if one asks about Vang’s family, one will surely snack the tongue in sign of admiration towards the pious, studious student, whose parents are construction workers, the family being difficult all year round. Also, Vang’s mom and sister are both suffering from fatal disease. One might assume that Vang, a student in Physics class of Luong Van Chanh high school for the gifted would not be able to successully complete the university entrance exam, but he was, with mark 25, which helped admit him to the Application science department of HCMC University of Technology. Vang’s relatives, neighbors all shared with his family by contributing to the help him go to HCMC to realize the dream of becoming an engineer.
4 years studying at HCMC University of Technology, outside class hours, Vang works as a tutor, flyer-distributing man, waiter to somehow earn to spend on his study. Every summer or Tet days, Vang takes time to help his mom to follow her as a construction worker. Despite difficulties, Vang is determined in learning. For Vang, only the knowledge can help his life, his family’s life less hard.
THE GREAT PRIDE
At the ceremony to honor outstanding Phu Yen students at Giap Ngo Tet 2014, Le Luong Vang was at the top position among the 120 students, with such impressive achievements as: the first prize, the second prize for the national exam for best students in Physics, the third prize in the national Olympic hydraulics exam, the consolidation prize in the national Olympic mechanics contest, the title of “5 good” at city level, the title of being a typical youth union’s member…Vang has also won the merit certificate by the Provincial People‘s Committee, the provincial association of patronizing scientific creativity, Vang is the representative of the students to deliver a speech. Vang shared, “Recently, I have received such an encouraging piece of news when Insa de Lyon Univeristy, France announced to have awarded the two-year scholarship in France, which is an opportunity for me to try more, to assert myself and pursuit my dream. After that, I will try to learn more to accumulate experience before coming back Vietnam to transfer advanced technology of European countries”.
Mr. Le Van Son, Vang’s father, confided, “Although Vang has won lots of achievements, due to the lack of favorable conditions, this is the very first time my wife and I accompanied out son to get the award. Being poor but we have always tried to encourage our children to realize their dreams”.
