Pilgrims pay homage to Lord Buddha

(VOV) – Despite wintry, drizzling weather, thousands of Buddhist pilgrims are flocking to Quang Ninh province to attend Yen Tu Festival honouring Lord Buddha.

Since the beginning of the Lunar New Year (Tet), more than 250,000 people have already made a pilgrimage to Yen Tu Mount where rituals take place.

Located in Uong Bi city, Yen Tu mount is considered the Vietnamese Buddhist land, which has numerous historical vestiges linked to Buddhism.

The festival begins on the 10th day of the first lunar month and lasts three months.

This year, it is expected to attract over 4 million visitors as a statute of King-Monk Tran Nhan Tong has been officially unveiled to the public.
