In the morning of 11 February 2014, Chan May port welcomed Celebrity Millennium five- star cruise (from Malta) carrying 2,100 international passengers and a crew of about 1,000. This is the first international cruise docking at Chan May port in Giap Ngo Lunar New Year 2014.
Celebrity Millennium is one of the leading world superior cruises and considered as a luxurious mobile resort with a system of residential rooms, a recreational area, a theatre, a fitness centre, a basketball court, a swimming pool, spas, stores, etc. After arriving at Chan May airport, passengers were taken to relics and sites, enjoyed local food and went shopping in Hue city, Hoi An ancient town, Da Nang sea city, My Son sanctuary, etc. by Hue and Da Nang travel agencies.
In accordance with Chan May- Lang Co economic zone, in the year 2014 it is intended that approximately 34 international cruises will register to enter Chan May port with about 40,000 passengers. Celebrity Millennium has registered to dock at Chan May 8 times. This can be seen as a good signal for Chan May port and Thua Thien Hue province tourism in the year 2014.
