Gold bar prices increase with global trend

The price of gold bars produced by Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC), Vietnam’s biggest gold refiner, has reached nearly to VND37 million (US$1,754) per tael on February 17.


Bars were quoted at VND 36.35 million per tael. Bids have been worth up to VND 45.15 million a tael at 9:30 a.m. in HCMC. The worth has increased by VND 240,000 to VND 260,000 per bid compared to the previous week.


In Hanoi, bars are sold at VND 37.45 million a tael and purchased at VND 36.37 million, an increase of VND 250,000 compared to the previous week.


The price increased to VND36.68-36.78 million a tael in HCMC in the afternoon of February 17.


Local gold prices are than in other countries at VND33.82 million per tael following the official exchange rate of Vietcombank. The price gap increased to nearly VND3 million a tael between local and international prices.
