Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and municipal authorities plant trees
Nhan Dan Online – Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Hanoi authorities planted trees on February 3, the fourth day of the new lunar year, atop Dong Vang Hill, Vat Lai Commune, Ba Vi District.
Speaking at the event, General Secretary Trong praised the Party committee, administration and people of Ba Vi District for organising such a meaningful activity. He also stressed the importance of planting trees and the practical benefits it brings to the country, the people, and the environment.
The Party chief recalled that 45 years ago, on February 16, 1969, President Ho Chi Minh participated in his last Tree Planting Festival in Vat Lai commune.
The Party leader also called on everyone to actively collaborate to continue the festival, which has become a traditional cultural feature of the Vietnamese people held every spring since President Ho Chi Minh started the tradition in 1959.
