HA NOI (VNS) — A female taxi driver in Ha Noi, accused of overcharging two foreign tourists, has been fined VND14 million (nearly US$700) and her driving license has been suspended for 60 days.
Ngo Thi Nhung took two British tourists from Ngoc Son Temple to the Ho Chi Minh Museum last Sunday in her independent cab which had a fake Ha Anh Taxi logo. The tourists had to pay $50 for the three-kilometre trip, which was ten times the actual cost.
Nhung apologised and returned the money to the tourists after she was arrested by the city’s Department of Transport inspectors.—VNS
