The project, sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam, aims to help filmmakers aged from 18 to 35 to make short documentaries in the 10 months between February and December 2014. Topics for the films appeal to the interests of youth today, including gender equality, transgender people, homosexuals, the environment, and traffic laws.

The project also offers participants filmmaking classes, teaching everything from writing scripts to producing films.

The best movies will be screened for local audiences as well as chosen to participate in local and international festivals.

The project’s consultants include well-known directors Bui Thac Chuyen, Phan Huyen Thu, Tran Phuong Thao and Pham Thi Hao, filmmaker Julie Béziau, audio specialists Arnaud Soulier and Hoang Thu Thuy, and cameraman Ly Thai Dung.

Interested filmmakers can send their application to the center at 51 Tran Hung Dao Street by March 1.
