Among 60 countries involved in the study this year, Malaysia and Singapore placed 11th and 12th, while Taiwan, China, and Thailand ranked 33rd, 34th and 55th respectively.

EF Vietnam research leader Minh Tran said as well as compiling a list of the 60 best English-speaking countries, EF EPI also provided analysis on development trends, six years after investment in English training.

The EF EPI’s analysis defined the correlation between English fluency of workers and national development in countries. It was based on free online tests for 750,000 adults who wanted to evaluate their English study.

To become involved in the EF EPI project, each country must have a minimum test sample of 400 participants. Tran revealed the number of Vietnamese registrations was much higher than the required level.

EF Education First was established in 1965, and now has 400 representative offices and schools throughout the world. It is headquartered in Switzerland.
