VietNamNet Bridge – Hoang Cau – O Cho Dua Road in Hanoi has been open to traffic. However, along the most expensive road in Vietnam are many houses in odd shapes.
The construction of the 547m road from Xa Dan to Hoang Cau started from April 2010 with a total investment of over VND700 billion ($35 million).
With an average investment of nearly VND1.3 billion ($70,000) per meter, the road is expected to help relieve congestion at O Cho Dua intersections during the peak hours.
To build this road, Hanoi authorities had to remove five offices and 450 households with compensation of VND527 billion ($26.35 million), while the construction costs are VND53 billion ($2.8 million). After 2 years of delay, the investment capital increased to over VND800 billion ($40 million). Currently, although the city has opened the road for traffic, many items such as lighting systems, separators, painted lines, pipelines and trees have yet to be finalized .
When the road opened, many houses in odd shapes have appeared.
Mr. Phan Hong Viet – Vice Chair of Dong Da district admits that many odd-shaped houses make the most expensive road in Hanoi ugly. He said, on this route, the city only licensed three-storey buildings, but many high rises had existed before so the city could not intervene.
