Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has issued documents to send to People’s Committee of 13 provinces on requiring for implementation of national forest census and inventory Project period 2013-2016.

Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development proposed above provinces to direct the departments, branches and governments at all levels proactively cooperate closely with Directorate of Forestry and units of Ministry in order deploy the forest investigation and inventory in the province.


Specifically, the provinces require Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to provide documents, data and related maps (cadastral maps, zoning maps of 3 forest types, land inventory maps, forest land allocation maps and forest allocation maps, etc) according to requirement of the Ministry’s units that implement forest inventory.


Accordingly, the province should implement preparations well for the organization; human resources and organizational plan for forest inventory can deploy immediately after receiving forest survey result. Ensuring inventory results and completes on schedule.


Specifically: In February 2014, the provinces organize acceptability of forest inventory results from the unit of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.


Forest inventory task must be completed at the end of April 2014; completing integrated forest inventory data and digitized maps at end of May 2014.


Complete the remaining activities of the project in late June 2014. On July 2014, Holding acceptance, handing over outcomes and training to use forest inventory database.


Previously, Prime Minister issued Decision on approving the project “The national forest inventory and census, period 2013-2016″.


The project aims to identify and know forest areas; forest reserves and forest land areas are not planned for forestry purposes associated with the specific management owner in the whole country; establishing forest management records, constructing forest database and land without forests.


The result of the project is the basis for the implementation, forest situation monitoring, annual forest land, planning, protection planning and development of forest from the central to the local; concurrently it is information to serve for the forest allocation task associated with forest land allocation and basis to implement payment for forest environmental services.
