<p>The first group of foreign visitors arrived at Noi Bai airport in the capital at 6:45 am on Flight VN36 from Frankfurt (Germany) and later, at 7:35 am, another group arrived at Tan Son Nhat airport in the southern hub on Flight VN30, also from Frankfurt.</p>

<p>They arrived to warm welcome ceremonies hosted by the leading officials of the two cities and representatives of the airline who described it as ushering in a new year full of bright prospects for the tourism and aviation industries of the two cities in particular and the whole country in general.</p>
<p>Speaking at the Hanoi ceremony, Deputy ECO of the Vietnam Airlines Trinh Ngoc Thanh said the carrier is proud to serve as a bridge connecting Vietnam and the rest of the world, as well as an “ambassador” of Vietnamese tourism that helps to popularise the country’s image to foreign friends. He also pledged better services to customers through the implementation of the airline’s long-term investment strategy and development.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the central province of Thua Thien – Hue held a dragon dancing performance at the Phu Bai International Airport and presented keepsakes to the passengers who came to the central province on the first day of 2019 on a Vietnam Airline flight en route from Hanoi.</p>
<p>The ceremony opened a series of local culture- sport-tourism activities set for 2019, including the Hue traditional handicraft festival, Hue international marathon day, and Coupe De Hue Cycle Race 2019.</p>

<div><strong>Da Nang (VNA)</strong> – The Da Nang Airport in the central coastal city of the same name on January 1 welcomed the first international flight of this year which carried 180 visitors from Hong Kong (China).
<p>The tourists on Flight UO550 of the Hong Kong Express arrived at the airport at 7:50 am to a welcome ceremony consisting of art performances, and flower and gift presentation.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, more than 2,000 Chinese tourists arrived at Tien Sa port in the afternoon the same day on board of the Italian-registered Costa Atlantica cruiser as the first foreign visitors coming to Da Nang this year on a sea route.</p>
<p>Leading officials of the municipal tourism authority said the arrival of the first foreign visitors on the first day of the new year marks the fine start of the city’s tourism industry in 2019. They said they hope the tour will leave deep imprints on the mind of the visitors about the friendly and hospitable locals and scenic sites in the city.</p>
<p>Over the recent years, Da Nang has emerged as an attractive destination for both foreign and Vietnamese tourists. At the end of last year, the city had 23 direct air routes with 328 flights per week, or 86 flights more than the figure in 2017, and welcomed 7,660,000 tourist arrivals, including 2,875,000 foreign.</p>
<p>Also last year, Da Nang welcomed 100 arrivals of cruisers to Tien Sa port with 145,000 visitors, a surge of 66% in the number of cruise tourists registered a year earlier.-VNA</p>

<p><strong>Hanoi (VNA)</strong> – Tourism departments of Hanoi, Thua Thien – Hue, and Ho Chi Minh City organised special ceremonies to greet their first tourists of the year arriving at the local international airports on January 1.</p>
<p>First foreign visitors landed in the capital city’s Noi Bai International Airport on a Vietnam Airlines plane. One of them was Timo Kux, a German national, who said he visits Vietnam about three or four times per year. He also expressed his fondness for the country’s beauty after touring different local tourist sites.</p>
<p>Hanoi welcomed 5.74 million foreign visitors in 2018, up 16 percent against 2017, among 26 million tourists spending time in the city. It aims to greet 6.7 million foreign visitors, out of nearly 28.6 million tourists in 2019.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the central province of Thua Thien – Hue held a dragon dancing performance at the Phu Bai International Airport and presented keepsakes to the passengers who came to the central province on the first day of 2019 on a Vietnam Airline flight en route from Hanoi.</p>

<p>A total of 4.25 million tourists visited the province last year, contributing 4.4 trillion VND (189.2 million USD) to the local tourism sector, up 11.8 and 25 percent from 2017, respectively. Thua Thien – Hue expects to host between 4.5 and 4.7 million visitors this year for revenue of 4.7-4.9 trillion VND.  </p>
<p>The HCM City Tourism Department, with support from the Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air, greeted the first six foreign and six domestic tourists to the southern economic hub at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport. The foreigners travelling on a Vietnam Airlines flight from Frankfurt, Germany and the domestic visitors came from the central city of Da Nang on a Vietjet Air flight. Each lucky tourist received a free economy ticket from their carriers and a free tour around the city’s popular destinations by the Tugo tourism company.</p>
<p>The city welcomed about 36.5 million visitors, including 7.5 million foreigners, last year. It sets a target of achieving its tourism growth of between 15-20 percent and serving about 8-8.5 million foreign holidaymakers in 2019.-VNA</p>

<p><strong>Khanh Hoa (VNA)</strong> – An enticing art performance took place in Nha Trang city in the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa on December 31 to welcome the New Year and announce the 2019 National Tourism Year.</p>
<p>The event lit up the local 2/4 Square, with popular singers like Trong Tan, Uyen Linh, and Ali Hoang Duong, and dancing troupes taking stage.</p>
<p>Le Duc Vinh, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee and head of the 2019 National Tourism Year organising board, said the annual programme, themed “Nha Trang – Colours of the Sea”, will introduce the province’s sea and island tourism potential and connect coastal areas in tourism development, thus contributing to developing sustainable tourism in Vietnam.</p>
<p>The programme is scheduled to run across the country throughout the year, with 13 national events held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and a wide range of culture-tourism events will be held in 14 other cities and provinces, including Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang</p>
<p>Khanh Hoa host 10 major events and 50 related activities, with the opening ceremony held in Nha Trang in May along with a week-long sea festival. Highlights of the programme include the Miss Universe Vietnam 2019 contest, the Symphony of the Sea festival, a film screening week, a seafood festival and the Miss Tourism ASEAN contest.</p>
<p>Various sport events will be held such as the KN Golf Championship, Vibe Marathon Nha Trang, Challenge Vietnam, the Hong Kong – Nha Trang yacht race and a jet ski race.</p>
<p>Khanh Hoa, with a coastline of more than 380 km and hundreds of islands and islets, and a sunny year-long climate, houses 690 lodging facilities with 32,000 rooms. It received 6.3 million tourists, including 2.8 million foreigners, in 2018. The figures were 15 percent and 36 percent higher than those recorded in 2017, respectively. This year, the province aims to serve more than 7 million visitors, including some 3 million foreigners.</p>
<p>Nha Trang has 180 kilometres of coastline with beautiful landscapes of Van Phong, Nha Trang and Cam Ranh bays and many islands. It has huge potential for tourism development.-VNA</p>

<p>The ceremony was held jointly by the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines along with low-cost airline Vietjet Air at Tan Son Nhat International Airport.</p>
<p>The aims of the event were to promote the city as a friendly and hospitable vacation destination for tourists. The event also highlighted the range of activities on offer for both local and foreign visitors to HCM City this year.</p>
<p>The first foreign holidaymakers of the year arrived from Frankfurt on Vietnam Airlines’ flight VN30 whilst the first local visitors landed on Vietjet’s flight VJ633. Both flights were treated to traditional art performances and received gifts including tours of HCM City.</p>
<p>An economy class plane ticket was presented to the first international and local visitor by Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air respectively.</p>

<p>Online travel agency Tugo was also offering tours to tourist attractions in HCM City to the first 12 visitors. The offer is part of the tourism stimulus program to welcome the 320th anniversary of Saigon-Cho Lon-Gia DInh-HCM City.</p>
<p>During 2019, HCM City’s tourism sector aims to welcome 8.5 million international tourists and over than 32 million local visitors, an increase of 14% and 13% respectively from last year.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, in Hue city, a greeting ceremony was held at Phu Bai international airport for more than 180 visitors on Vietnam Airlines’ flight VN1543 from Hanoi to Hue.</p>

<p>Under the theme “Nha Trang – ‘Colour of the Sea’, the National Tourism Year 2019 will feature hundreds of cultural, sports and tourism events, as well as seminars.</p>
<p>During the year, 13 activities will be jointly organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and other ministries and agencies, 50 more by Khanh Hoa province and a further 35 by 14 cities and provinces</p>
<p>Among the hundreds of activities during the coming year, the sea tourism festival “Symphony of the sea 2019”, the third conference on central coastal region development, a triathlon competition and Miss Universe Vietnam 2019 are a few of the highlights.</p>
<p>At the ceremony, the organising board launched the phone number *2258, which operates 24/7 to offer support and consultation for tourists.</p>
<p>The opening ceremony will be concurrent with the Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa sea festival, slated for May 2019. Meanwhile, the closing ceremony is expected to be held on December 31, 2019.</p>
<p>According to Tran Son Hai, Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee, in order to prepare for the National Tourism Year 2019, as well as to create conditions for tourism development, the province has directed its tourism industry to innovate and improve the quality of tourism products.</p>
<p>Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee agreed to select a set of photos to identify the National Tourism Year 2019 – Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa, at the proposal of the Department of Culture and Sports; including five photos of the landscape of the sea, islands and tourism of Khanh Hoa: the panoramic view of the coast of Nha Trang city; Tran Phu street; Ponagar tower; Hon Chong – Hon Vo; Mui Doi (double capes) – Hon Dau.</p>
<p>In the coming time, the province will focus on embellishing urban areas to create a new, captivating and more attractive image when entering the National Tourism Year 2019.</p>
