<p>Hang Luoc is actually known as one of the oldest flower markets in Hanoi that opens once a year for the country’s biggest and most important holiday, <i>Tet</i>, the Lunar New Year Festival.</p>
</div>
<div>
<p>A week before the New Year, people flock to the market for fresh flowers, ornamental plants and a slew of other <i>Tet</i> decorations.</p>
</div>
<div>
<p>Vietnamese people have a long tradition of offering fresh flowers to deities and their ancestors during the holiday to pray for luck and peace.</p>
</div>
<div>
<p>Peach blossoms are an indispensable house decoration for <i>Tet</i> in northern Vietnam. Depending on their size, number of buds and the stage of bloom, a branch can cost between VND50,000 and VND100,000 ($2.15 to $4.31 ).</p>
</div>
<div>
<p>The market, which stretches from Gam Cau (Under the Bridge) Street to Cha Ca Street in the Old Quarter, is packed with shoppers most of the time.</p>
</div>
<div>
<p>Peach blossoms sold at the market mainly come from the Nhat Tan Village, famous for its flower gardens for a long time, and some outlying districts.</p>
<p>Nguyen Quy, a local resident, said the Hang Luoc flower market is a not-to-be missed cultural activity for Hanoians in the lead up to <i>Tet</i>, where they came to look for the most eye-catching bouquets.</p>
<p>This year, the first day of the Lunar New Year, the Year of the Pig, will fall on February 5.</p>

<p>Hoa, a peach blossom trader, waters the flowers to keep them fresh.</p>
<p>“I started the business more than a week ago but the market really gets going only from the 20th day of the last lunar month,” Hoa said.</p>
</div>
<div>
<p>Besides peach blossoms, yellow Mai flowers and kumquat trees, paper and silk flowers have become eye-catching sights.</p>
</div>
<div>
<p>Meanwhile, one of the new items on Hang Ma Street, famous for selling toys, paper goods and in particular votive paper offerings, are <i>banh chung and banh tet</i> (sticky rice cakes) made of paper that locals buy for home decoration during <i>Tet</i>.</p>
</div>

<p>Featuring a river cruise down the Gianh river, tourists will have the opportunity to visit a variety of villages located nearby.</p>
<p>The tours will include stops at a craft village making Banh Trang (a traditional Vietnamese dish known as “girdle pancakes”), a village that produces traditional conical hats as well as experiencing unique local life through discovering Gia Hung cathedral and nearby distilleries.  </p>
<p>Ho An Phong, director of Quang Binh province’s department of tourism, said the province has implemented an ADB-funded project to instigate the development of tourism along the river route through government support.</p>
<p>Mr Phong emphasized that the provincial tourism industry will need to develop tourism services along the Gianh River to fully fulfill its potential. Accordingly, tourists will take cruise trips from Phong Nha to the Gianh River, visiting traditional craft villages along the Gianh River in districts such as Quang Trach and Tuyen Hoa and Ba Don town.</p>

<div>Pursuant to the agreement, Mr. Ly Xuong Can will be a representative of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism to provide the country’s tourist information and services in South Korea as well as promote tourist activities of the agency.
<p>Additionally, the ambassador will collaborate with the Tourism Market Department under the minstry to build and advertise Vietnam’s tourism industry in South Korea, to introduce famous destinations and prestigious tourist services of Vietnam.</p>
<p>Previously, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien appointed Ly Xuong Can as the Vietnamese Tourism Ambassador for 2017- 2020.</p>
<p>Ly Xuong Can was born in 1958 in Seoul. He was the 31st generation descendant of King Ly Thai To, the founder of the Ly Dynasty (1009-1225) in Vietnam and the 26th generation descendant of Prince Ly Long Tuong who immigrated to the Korean peninsula in the 13th century. <br />

<p>In January 2019, the number of visitors travelling by air reached over 1 million, accounting for 77.7% (up 1.4% compared to January 2018). Those travelling by road rose to approximately 310,000, an increase of 26.9% in comparison to the same period in 2018. Meanwhile, the number of visitors travelling by sea went down 30.5% year-on-year to 24,000.</p>
<p>In addition, the number of domestic tourists is estimated to reach 6.6 million in January 2019. The turnover of the tourism sector rose to VND 56,500 billion, up 6.6% compared to the same period last year.</p>

<div><strong>Hanoi (VNA) –</strong> Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung has approved a planning scheme to build Moc Chau national tourist site in the northern mountainous province of Son La until 2030.
<p>The Moc Chau national tourist site will be built on an area spanning 206,150 ha in the two districts of Moc Chau and Van Ho. It is expected to attract 1.65 million visitors by 2020, and about 5 million by 2030.</p>
<p>Various tourism types will be developed in the national tourism site, such as eco-tourism, cultural tourism and resort tourism.</p>
<p>In addition to constructing accommodation establishments and entertainment complex, cultural and historical relics, as well as tourist attractions in the locality will be restored. The province will promote the training of personnel in tourism services and high technology agriculture in the coming time.</p>
<p>Competent agencies will work to improve the local health care system and protect the environment, contributing to climate change response.</p>
<p>Infrastructure for trading activities will also be enhanced in the near future, particularly the Long Sap international border gate.-VNA</p>

<p><strong>Hanoi (VNA)</strong> – Vietnamese Tourism Ambassador to the Republic of Korea (RoK) Ly Xuong Can signed an agreement in Hanoi on January 30 with the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) to establish an office to promote Vietnamese tourism in the host nation. </p>
<div>Under the agreement, which is effective until December 31, 2020, the VNAT and the ambassador will provide information about Vietnam’s tourism to Korean tourists, organise tours to Vietnam, and help Vietnamese agencies and businesses organise tourism promotion events in the RoK.
<p>Can will partner with the VNAT’s Tourism Market Department to build and launch tourism promotion events, as well as provide information about Vietnam’s tourism events, major tourist destinations, and prestigious tourism services.</p>
<p>He will also inform the VNAT about Korean tourism policies and products, as well as print and issue publications about Vietnam’s tourism.</p>
<p>Ly Xuong Can, whose Korean name is Lee Chang Kun, was born in 1958 in Seoul. He is the 31st generation descendant of King Ly Thai To and the 26th generation descendant of Prince Ly Long Tuong, who immigrated to the RoK in the 13th century. </p>
<p>In 1994, he represented the Ly Hoa Son clan in the RoK in returning to Vietnam and visiting his hometown in Dinh Bang ward, Tu Son town, the northern province of Bac Ninh. Six years later, he and his family received Vietnamese citizenship. He became a member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee in September 2014.</p>
<p>Can was appointed as the Vietnamese Tourism Ambassador for the three year tenure of December 2017-December 2020.</p>
<p>In January 2019, the number of Korean tourists to Vietnam rose by 23 percent, surpassing China to become the largest source of tourists in the country.–VNA </p>

<p><strong>Hanoi (VNA)</strong> – Hanoi received more than 2.4 million tourists in January, a year-on-year increase of 10.4 percent, according to the municipal Department of Tourism.</p>
<p>Of the figure, international arrivals to the capital city reached nearly 634,000, up 16 percent compared to the same period last year. Those who stayed overnight in the city numbered 445,000, mainly from the Republic of Korea, China and Japan, according to local accommodation service providers.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, domestic holidaymakers amounted to 1.7 million, an increase of 8.5 percent.</p>
<p>Total tourism revenue was estimated to surge 34.2 percent year on year to 8.89 trillion VND (383.3 million USD).</p>
<p>Hanoi welcomed 5.74 million foreign visitors in 2018, up 16 percent against 2017, among 26 million tourists spending time in the city.</p>
<p>Last year, the city was ranked 12th among the 25 best global destinations, and one of the two cities in Vietnam to enter the most prominent group in the world in terms of room reservation.</p>
<p>It was nominated by the World Travel Awards as one of the 17 candidates for a prize of the world’s leading city destination 2018.</p>
<p>Hanoi’s key tourism markets include China, the Republic of Korea, Japan, France, the US, the UK, Germany, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Canada. </p>
<p>Popular destinations in the city can be named as the Mausoleum of President Ho Chi Minh, the Temple of Literature and National University (Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam), the Hanoi Old Quarter, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple.</p>
<p>The city aims to greet 6.7 million foreign visitors out of nearly 28.6 million tourists in 2019.-VNA</p>

<div><strong>Da Nang (VNA)</strong> – The central coastal city of Da Nang expects to welcome nearly 332,500 visitors during the upcoming Tet (Lunar New Year), a year-on-year increase of 11.9 percent.
<p>As the Tet holiday makes for a busy tourism season for people from China, Japan, the Republic of Korea (RoK), the EU, and the US, as well as overseas Vietnamese, the city hopes the number of foreigner visitors will rise 23.1 percent to hit 162,600. Thanks to the opening of several direct flights connecting Da Nang to Incheon, Busan, and Daegu (RoK), Osaka (Japan), Bangkok (Thailand), and Doha (Qatar), foreign tourists will now find it much easier to visit the city.</p>
<p>More domestic tourists are expected in the city too, especially after Vietnam Airlines rolls out its Da Nang-Can Tho route with seven round trips per week.</p>
<p>An array of cultural activities have been scheduled in the city for Tet, including a dazzling firework display to welcome in the New Year, an exhibition, as well as the presentation of gifts to the year’s first visitors to the city, among others.</p>
<p>According to Vice Director of the municipal Department of Tourism Nguyen Xuan Binh, localities, travel agents, and tourism service firms have worked to ensure social order, environmental hygiene, food safety, and good quality services.</p>
<p>The city has set the target of welcoming 8.19 million visitors throughout 2019, a rise of 6.9 percent year-on-year, which includes 3.19 million foreigners, an increase of 11 percent. The tourism sector aims to gross 27.4 trillion VND (1.18 billion USD) in revenue, up 13.9 percent against the previous year.</p>
<p>Da Nang city has been a rising popular tourism destination in central Vietnam. The online marketplace and hospitality service Airbnb announced listings of the world’s top 10 destinations for 2018, in which the city ranked fifth with a 255 percent growth in bookings. Meanwhile, travel magazine Live and Invest Overseas voted Da Nang among world’s most livable cities last year.–VNA</p>

<div>Statistics showed that more than 1, 167 arrivals visited to the country by air flights accounting for 77.7 percent, around 24,157 international visitors travelled by sea route while the number of visitors travelled by road reached 310,406 passengers.
<p>The highest growth focuses on the number of international tourist from Thailand, Taiwan (China), South Korea, the Philippines and Indonesia. </p>
<p>This month, the number of domestic tourist reached 6.6 million people with revenue of VND 56,500 billion (US$ 2.4 trillion) increasing by 6.6 percent .</p>
<p>This year, Vietnam tourism is expected to receive around 18 million international travelers and serve 85 million domestic tourists with total revenue of more than VND 700,000 billion (US$ 30.1 trillion). </p>

Hanoi (VNA) –</strong> Vietnam has received more than 1.5 million international tourists in January, a year-on-year increase of 5 percent, the General Statistics Office (GSO) announced on January 29.</p>
<p>The number of foreign holidaymakers rose 9.3 percent against December, with a strong surge seen the flow of tourists from Europe, America and Oceania as overseas Vietnamese have come home for the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) while in some European and American countries, people have higher demand for travelling abroad during their winter holidays.</p>
<p>In the month, visitors from Asian markets accounted for the lion’s share with over 1.1 million people, a 5.4 percent climb from the same period of 2018. The Republic of Korea (RoK) surpassed China to become the largest source of foreign holidaymakers of Vietnam.</p>
<p>Tourists from most of the major markets of Vietnam increased, including Thailand (39.7 percent), Taiwan (31.4 percent), the Philippines (20 percent), Indonesia (18.7 percent), Japan (11.3 percent), and Malaysia (9.4 percent). Meanwhile, visitors from China, Singapore, Cambodia and Laos experienced decreases of 10.7 percent, 2.5 percent, 61.3 percent and 27 percent, respectively.</p>
<p>The number of tourists from Europe witnessed a slight growth of 3.1 percent, with visitors from Russia rising 2.2 percent, the UK 3.9 percent, France 1.3 percent, Germany 3.9 percent, Sweden 6 percent and Italy 3.9 percent.</p>
<p>The number of visitors from America and Oceania expanded 7.8 percent and 0.2 percent, respectively.</p>
<p>Some 6.6 million Vietnamese people spent their holidays domestically.</p>
<p>Tourism revenue in the month reached 56.5 trillion VND (2.44 billion USD), or 6.6 percent higher than the same month last year.</p>
<p>This year, Vietnam aims to serve 18 million foreign visitors and 85 million domestic ones in 2019, and earn more than 700 trillion VND (30.2 billion USD) from tourism.</p>
<p>To attract more foreign holidaymakers, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) has enhanced tourism promotion activities and information provision. </p>
<p>Vietnam’s tourism sector had a successful 2018 with numerous achievements. However, it should move to handle such challenges as low-cost tours or the so-called “zero dong” tours, quality human resources, food safety and hygiene, and environmental pollution, among others.-VNA</p>

Hanoi (VNA)</strong> – Vietnam aims to receive about 18 million foreign visitors and 85 million domestic ones in 2019, and earn more than 700 trillion VND (30.2 billion USD) from tourism, according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.</p>
<p>To attract more foreign holiday-makers, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) has enhanced tourism promotion activities and information provision.</p>
<p>Vietnam joined the 39th International Tourism Fair (FITUR) in Madrid, Spain from January 23-27, aiming to introduce Vietnam’s potential for tourism development.</p>
<p>The administration plans to attend a series of other promotion programmes in Germany, Russia, Venezuela, China, the Republic of Korea, Australia, Japan and ASEAN countries in 2019.</p>
<p>Vietnam served some 15.5 million-15.6 million foreign tourists and 80 million domestic travelers in 2018, earning 620 trillion VND (26.66 billion USD) for tourism revenue.</p>
<p>The success has been attributed by some to the efforts of tourism authorities to promote the country overseas.</p>
<p>The tourism sector focused on promoting tourism in traditional markets and those with high growth potential. It worked with the tourism advisory council to foster e-marketing in tourism promotion activities, and build tourism apps for mobile devices.</p>
<p>Localities also made videos to promote tourism and received international delegations to explore tourism development potential in Vietnam.</p>
<p>To aid such efforts, VNAT has adopted a system of indicators to evaluate a destination and a tourism code of conduct; designed various plans to strengthen the management of travel agencies and tour guides; and raised awareness of the importance of quality among tourism service providers, local administrations and tourism authorities.</p>
<p>According to the VNAT, to meet the demands of visitors from different markets, Vietnam has developed a range of tourism products that make use of the country’s advantages, including cultural tours, sea-based tours, eco-tours, adventure tours, luxurious resort vacations and more.</p>
<p>In recent years, a range of popular holiday destinations like Ha Long, Phu Quoc and Da Nang have helped develop the image of Vietnam, promoting national tourism among international visitors and becoming the main drivers of the industry’s growth.</p>
<p>Also in 2018, the country won a series of international awards, recognising it as a safe and friendly destination. Vietnam was named “Asia’s Leading Destination” for the first time at the 2018 World Travel Awards in Hong Kong this September. Two months later, it was honoured with as “Asia’s best golf destination in 2018” at the Golf World Travel Awards.</p>
<p>In December last year, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc approved the establishment of a State-run tourism development fund, worth about 300 billion VND (12.9 million USD), which will be used for financing tourism promotion activities.</p>
<p>The PM also approved a project which hopes to restructure the industry to turn it into a spearhead economic sector and make Vietnam one of the most developed tourism nations in Southeast Asia.</p>
<p>The project aims for 45 billion USD in tourism revenue by 2025, with exports through tourism reaching 27 billion USD.</p>
<p>The sector is hoped to contribute more than 10 percent to GDP and create 6 million jobs, including 2 million direct jobs. At the same time, it expects to serve 32 million foreign tourists and more than 130 million domestic visitors in 2025. –VNA  </p>

<p>Agoda, a leading global online accommodation reservations provider, has used new bookings data to assess 10 most popular <em>Tet</em>, Lunar New Year, holiday destinations for Vietnamese this year.</p>
<p>Traditionally, <em>Tet </em>is a time when Vietnamese people return home all over the country and the world to join their family for important Lunar New Year rituals, and to visit relatives and friends as part of the festival tradition.</p>
<p>However, the long holiday is tempting increasing numbers of Vietnamese citizens to travel within and outside the country.</p>
<p>This year, Bangkok has overtaken many of famous Vietnamese tourist hotspots like Da Lat, Nha Trang and Phu Quoc. Singapore came sixth on the list, while Kuala Lumpur took the ninth position.</p>

<p>Around one million Vietnamese tourists touched down in Thailand in 2018, putting Vietnam among the kingdom’s top 10 tourism markets, according to a recent report by the Tourism Authority of Thailand.</p>
<p>Citizens of ASEAN member nations can travel within the region without applying for visa and stay as a tourist for a maximum of 30 days.</p>
<p>Bangkok’s high popularity among Vietnamese holiday goers is reflected in the fact that 30 airlines have direct routes connecting Hanoi and Saigon with the capital of Thailand.</p>
<p>The Year of the Pig begins on February 5 and the Vietnamese government has approved a nine-day (February 2-10) break for the holiday.</p>
<p>Rising overseas travel is a result of economic development and an expanding middle class, said Nguyen Cong Hoan, vice general director of Hanoi Redtour.</p>
<p>“A more affluent younger generation now wants to see the world. They are willing to spend more money on experiencing new destinations,” he said.</p>
<p>According to Mastercard, Vietnam has the second fastest growing outbound market in the Asia Pacific region after Myanmar, with projected annual growth of 9.5 percent between 2016 and 2021.</p>
<p>Mastercard has forecast that some 7.5 million Vietnamese travelers will venture outside the country in 2021.</p>

Da Nang (VNA) –</strong> The central coastal city of Da Nang has set the target of welcoming 8.19 million visitors in 2019, including 3.19 million foreigners, a year-on-year rise of 6.9 percent and 11 percent, respectively.</p>
<p>The tourism sector aims to gross 27.4 trillion VND (1.18 billion USD) in revenues, up 13.9 percent against the previous year.</p>
<p>Director of the municipal Department of Tourism Ngo Quang Vinh said the department will consult the municipal People’s Committee to promulgate and implement the management plan of activities by travel companies in 2019-2020.</p>
<p>It will manage more effectively low-cost tour packages and pilot the implementation of a set of criteria on professional services at tourist accommodation establishments, he added.</p>
<p>Besides intensifying inspections at tourism businesses, the department will propose local authorities form sea travel services at Son Tra peninsula – a popular destination in the city.</p>
<p>In 2019, the tourism department will coordinate with relevant sectors to create new tourism services such as Than Tai hot spring park and walking streets.</p>
<p>According to Deputy Director of the department Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Da Nang welcomed 7.66 million holidaymakers in 2018, up 15.5 percent over the previous year, including 2.87 million international tourists, a yearly rise of 23.3 percent.</p>
<p>The total revenue collected from tourism activities was estimated at 24 trillion VND, an annual increase of 23.3 percent.</p>
<p>Notably, the city developed a number of activities to draw visitors such as the international firework festival, the sea tourism programme, and the travel contest on Da Nang.</p>

<p>The goat meat and bones are tender, creating a sweet and flavourful broth, typical of “Lau De”. Unlike other hotpots, “Lau De” is boiled in a clay pot by a coal cooker. Little by little, various veggies including fresh cabbage, water morning glory, carrot, celery, as well as tofu, “my banh da”, a kind of vermicelli and taro are added into the boiling clay pot.</p>
<p>And when the food becomes tender and imbued with the sweet flavour of the stock, the dish can be enjoyed. Just pick up some hot meat slices, dip it into a special sauce, called “chao”, and then savour the meat sweetness mingled with the spicy, sweet, greasy, and salty “chao”. Instead of “chao”, northern people often serve “tuong” that is not less yummy. Additionally, the medicinal herb fragrance in the broth makes the hotpot more intriguing.</p>
<p>Each restaurant has its own recipe for spices, herbs and sauces.</p>

<p>With the theme of “Lang Son Peach Blossoms Festival – Quintessence Convergence, Spring Colour Spread”, the festival aims to promote Lang Son as the land of peach blossoms, turning them into a symbol of the province and becoming a key promotional tool for local tourism.</p>
<p>The highlight of the event is the display of over 700 of the most beautiful peach trees in full bloom.</p>
<p>Artistic performances will include Then singing, lion dances, and folk games. In addition, the festival also features performances by art troupes from China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (RoK).</p>
<p>On the occasion, the organising board awarded the most beautiful peach blossom prize to Cao Loc District People’s Committee and Tam Thanh Ward People’s Committee, Lang Son City.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the organising board also honoured eight outstanding organisations and individuals of a photo and video contest on Lang Son.</p>
<p>The festival runs until February 14.</p>

<p>I hadn’t planned on taking a trip to Golden Stream, in the Central Highlands city of Đà Lạt, but I’m glad I did visit the beautiful natural lake, as it left unforgettable emotions imprinted in my mind.</p>
<p>When a friend and I rode a motorbike towards pine forests in Lạc Dương District, the Central Highlands province of Lâm Đồng, we saw an impressive waterfall created by a dam. We stopped for some photos. A local man passing through told us the most spectacular area was at the end of the Golden Stream.</p>
<p>We quickly changed our plans and skipped our trip to the pine forests. We decided to spend a day to enjoy the beautiful sights of Golden Stream.</p>
<p>About 17km northwest of Đà Lạt centre, Golden Stream is one of the most famous tourist attractions in the city.</p>
<p>Situated in Lạc Dương District, Golden Stream includes Dankia Lake above and Ankroet Lake below, which were created by two dams.</p>
<p>The local wasn’t wrong. When I saw Ankroet Waterfall, I realised the first waterfall I saw was miniscule in comparison. Ankroet is a large waterfall that was chosen to build the first hydroelectric plant in Việt Nam in 1942 by the French. It is divided into seven smaller waterfalls.</p>
<p>We arrived at the site in the early morning. When the lake received the first rays of sun, it reflected the light as if some had scattered thousands of sparkling golden leaves on the surface of the water.</p>
<p>Though Ankroet Lake is used for hydroelectric power, Dankia Lake and Golden Valley by the Golden Stream are open for tourism. It’s the impressive destination on the outskirts of Đà Lạt, with beautiful lake, pine trees and hills of grasses.</p>
<p>Tourists can discover the site by boat or walk through the Golden Valley. They can do fishing, camping and have BBQs.</p>
<p>Young people also have opportunities to take photos with the lake, forests and hills as a backdrop.</p>
<p>I joked to my friend that each corner of the Golden Valley was an opportunity for dozens of photos.</p>
<p>One popular site is a cape with the Lonely Pine Tree, a name given by tourists as there is only one pine tree in the cape.</p>
<p>Though the site receives many tourists, it still preserves its tranquility. Hoàng Lâm, member of the management board of Golden Valley, said tourists come for peace, so the board works to keep the site intact and peaceful.</p>
<p>“We receive young people who come for camping, couples to take wedding photos and middle-aged people to relax,” said Lâm.</p>
<p>“The place is so romantic and beautiful and helps people relax.”</p>
<p>Lâm also features the French villas built in the 19th century.</p>
<p>By 2025, the site expects to welcome 3 million guests including 56,000 foreigners. It’s estimated that the site will generate about 3,700 jobs by 2025, and 7,000 jobs by 2030.</p>
<p>It will develop cultural tourism products especially the Central Highlands gong culture and sports tourism products and tourist resorts.</p>
<p>The colours and sights of the lake change each hour depending on the sunlight. When the curtain of darkness was let down on the water, the fog creates fantastic scenery. — VNS</p>

<div><span><span>Chu Dau pottery village is located in Thai Tan commune, Nam Sach district, northern province of Hai Duong. According to researchers, Chu Dau pottery village was a high-end ceramic center, which was formed in the late 14th century, and reached its peak of brilliant development in the 15th – 16th centuries and then declined in the 17th century. In 2001, Chu Dau ancient pottery was researched to rehabilitate its enamel quality, production techniques, product design, and since then, the Chu Dau village pottery has gradually revived and developed as today.</span></span>

<p><span><span>The unique characteristic of the Chu Dau pottery that make it completely different from any other ceramic is its completely handmade paintings. The enamel is made from natural ash of rice husk to give an ancient elegant yellow; the material used to make Chu Dau pottery is white clay taken from Truc Thon area (Chi Linh town, Hai Duong province). The clay is mixed in water.<br />
The molding and pattern decoration processes of Chu Dau pottery are always handmade by the skillful experienced artisans. This makes the Chu Dau pottery completely different from other pottery villages.</span></span></p>

<p><span><span>One of the signature highlights of Chu Dau pottery is the pattern reflecting the life, beliefs, philosophy and soul of the Vietnamese, in which the image of lotus, chrysanthemum and Lac Viet birds are painted. Chu Dau ceramic pottery is made from clay mixed with treated rice husk, to produce white, blue, green and green brown glaze.<br />
According to many travel agencies, in terms of cultural value, history as well as beauty compared to other famous ceramic pottery brand names of Vietnam, the Chu Dau pottery is not inferior, and even superior. Therefore, this is a great opportunity for Chu Dau pottery to develop and attract visitors.</span></span></p>

<p>(VEN) - The town of Sa Pa in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai has seen an increasing number of tourists and growing investment since Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc signed a decision in late 2017 recognizing the resort town as a national tourism site.</p>
<div>
<p>Sa Pa is famous for its dramatic scenery of valleys and mountain peaks, such as Fansipan Mountain, Muong Hoa Valley, Ham Rong Mountain, and Ta Phin Village, and the diversity of ethnic minority groups who live there, including the Kinh, Hmong, Yao, Tay, Day, Xa Pho and Hoa.</p>
<p>Lao Cai Province is also a gateway to China’s Yunnan Province, boosting its advantages as a tourist center. Thanks to sustainable development policies, given the growth of tourists, Sa Pa is expected to welcome about four million visitors by 2020 and eight million by 2030.</p>
<p>To meet tourism development demands, Sa Pa has been engaged in massive infrastructure construction, such as a road connecting Noi Bai-Lao Cai Highway with the town, and the Quang Ninh-Hai Phong-Sa Pa route. Lao Cai has also proposed to the Ministry of Transport the construction of an airport in Sa Pa, opening up opportunities to further attract tourists.</p>
<p>A series of key projects are also being implemented, including a new administrative center, a high-class service complex, a Muong Hoa cultural park, and a new urban area in northeastern Sa Pa.</p>
<p>Lao Cai Province is attracting large real estate investors, such as Bitexco, Sun Group, Vingroup, and Truong Giang Sa Pa Group interested in developing high-end resort complexes.</p>
<p>In December, the first international five-star hotel opened in Sa Pa. The 250-room Hotel de la Coupole – MGallery by Sofitel bills itself as restoring Sa Pa back to its heyday as a retreat for French emigres sojourning in what they called the Tonkinese Alps.</p>

<p>The archipelago nation of over 7,000 islands saw the number of visitors jump by nearly eight percent over the previous year, with South Koreans leading the way as its top tourists.</p>
<p>This growth came without much help from Boracay, which was closed for clean up from April to October after President Rodrigo Duterte branded it a “cesspool” fouled by reckless development.</p>
<p>Before the closure, the tiny island’s white sand beaches and turquoise waters were seeing some two million sun worshippers a year.</p>
<p>“The challenging act of closing down Boracay … the country’s top sun-and-beach destination has evidently become a blessing in disguise,” said Philippine tourism secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.</p>
<p>Other spots like natural paradise Palawan and beach destination Siargao island saw a jump in foreign tourists during the closure.</p>
<p>While South Korean led the pack with 1.6 million tourists, Chinese arrivals jumped by nearly 30 percent over 2017 to hit 1.3 million, the department of tourism said.</p>
<p>Americans visitors to the former US colony were at one million.</p>

<p><span><span>Almost every visitor to Con Dao must visit the Hang Duong cemetery. This is the largest cemetery on this island, and the resting place of tens of thousands of revolutionaries and Vietnamese patriots. The tombs are simple, equipped with a solar lamp to illuminate at night for the people to visit. Con Dao has no temples, no churches, only the tomb of Sister Sau (Heroine Vo Thi Sau) and madam Hoang Phi Yen (King Gia Long’s wife), so after 21:00 hours (sacred time to visit according to the locals’ belief), visitors go to the cemetery to burn incense as a gesture gratitude to the revolutionaries.</span></span></p>

<p><span><span>The next journey is the Con Dao prison, where visitors shudder when witnessed the bloody drenched scenes that the French colonialists and the American imperialists caused.</span></span><br />

<p><span><span>Following the spiritual journey, you can choose Van Son Tu pagoda. In the lotus blossom season, you will be able to watch two large flower bowls, in Hang Duong cemetery and Vo Thi Sau tomb.<br />
Coming to Con Dao, surely you cannot ignore the opportunity to contemplate sunrise or sunset from the lighthouse. In the afternoon, go to Hon Cau – a small islet with white sand beach interwoven with dead white corals which are extremely eye-catching. Especially, near the shore there is a large coral reef area, when the tide recedes, they appear shimmering in the sand; when submerged under the tide, with just a diving glass and snorkel you can watch the beauty of the place.<br />
Many people coming to Hon Cau refuse to sleep, and want to follow the forest officers watch the sea turtles crawl ashore to lay eggs. Conservation rules in Con Dao are very strict, so that this place still preserve the pristine and almost intact ecosystem. Besides Hon Cau, Con Dao has many other beautiful islands worth visiting such as Hon Bay Canh, Hon Tai, Dam Tre Bay, Hon Tre, etc.<br />

<p><span><span>Thung Nham bird sanctuary lies in the core area of Trang An townlet, next to the famous Tam Coc – Bich Dong resort. From the Bich Dong Pagoda, about 4km on road, tourists set foot on Thung Nham – the land of birds.<br />
Deep in the mountains and far away from the residential area, Thung Nham is known for its huge amount of bird species nesting there. In addition to visiting the birds, you can also explore the caves on the water and inside the mountains.<br />
The valley is surrounded by tropical jungle lying on limestone mountains, with many valleys and caves. Thung Chim has been put into operation for tourism (established by Doanh Sinh Travel and Business Company), with many landscape items, including accommodation area, restaurant area, playing area for team-building activities. However, if you just want to see the birds, you can buy tickets for this activity only.</span></span></p>

<p><span><span>The most visited points at Thung Nham are Buddha Cave (using boat trip, tourists can discover a sitting Buddha Stone there; besides, caves are dark with little electricity for lighting), Vai Gioi Cave (by walking) with three layers of hidden caves, including Tranquility, Hell and Paradise.<br />
Legend has it that the ancient people have set up the sacrificial ritual for the Gods to pray for good weather and bumper harvests. The bird sanctuary is a submerged area where there are many luxuriant trees, which are convenient for birds to nest. There are also other attractions such as Tien Ca Cave, Aquarium Cave, Fruit Garden, and Moving Banyan Trees (these two are not very attractive).<br />
Tourists can visit Thung Nham for a day or two days depending on their schedule; however, to enjoy every beautiful scenery and attraction here, a 2-day trip is a wonderful choice. In addition to sight-seeing activities, tourists can participate in some team-building games; experience a whole day as a farmer, a goat herder, or spending another day to explore Thung Nham tourist paradise.<br />
To visit the bird sanctuary, tourists should go in the late afternoon (around 5pm). It is the time that the birds return to eat, and visitors can easily see those activities more often in fall. However, if you don’t have time, you can also visit the bird sanctuary at 2 – 3 pm to timely return to Hanoi on a one-day trip. If you have more time, you should visit the full list of other places at the Thung Nham Bird Park, such as Tien Fish Cave, Orchard-filled Area, Aquarium Cave, Moving Banyan Tree, Valley of Love, etc.</span></span></p>

<p><span><span>For families who prefer to stay in the resort, or for corporate groups, they can stay overnight here in order to have time to visit all places in Thung Nham, especially the bird sanctuary in the late afternoon (the time when more birds return).<br />
If you come in groups, you can organize team-building activities in the evening, set fire and gather people around it. The area for this activity is located about 300m from the resort to avoid disturbing other guests with noise. In addition, if you stay overnight, you can also combine the visit to Thung Nham with other attractions such as Bich Dong Pagoda, Tam Coc Scenic Area, or Thien Ha Cave (newly opened, very beautiful, next to Buddha Cave).<br />
You do not even have to sleep in Thung Nham; instead, you can go to some hotel locations in Ninh Binh City or some hostels in Tam Coc.</span></span></p>

<p><span><span>Van Long Lagoon is home to thousands of animals, plants, and aquatic life, especially the Trachypithecus delacouri, which is an endangered species. Van Long has over 30 beautiful caves, many large caves are put on the list of tourist attractions (in the high water season, there are some unreachable caves) such as Ca Cave, Bong Cave, Rua Cave and Chanh Cave.<br />
After going through the mountains, you will go to Ca Cave, a half-submerged and half-dried cave with 250m long, 8m high and 10m wide. The cave is located at the foot of the mountain, so after crossing the cave, to the other side you will see a small valley surrounded by mountains. If you get lucky enough – usually in the afternoon (about 15:30 – 16:30), there will be a chance to see storks flying. In addition, there are some limestone blocks with the shape of its name “Cat Scratches” (on the side of the mountain there is a “picture” like a cat scratch on the stone), Raspberry, Book, Stone, etc.</span></span></p>
<p><span><span>The best time to visit Van Long is at the end of the summer and early autumn. At that time, the lagoon is peaceful, and you can easily look through the water to see the moss below. However, due to the rich ecological system, visitors should go to Van Long at any time and they definitely can discover the beauty of this destination. The most beautiful time of the day is probably late in the afternoon. At that time, visitors will see a gentle and charming Van Long. No longer harsh bright sun, the lagoon turns into red, storks also begin to fly.<br />
To get to Van Long from Ha Noi, the only way is to follow National Highway 1A, through Phu Ly to Gian Khau junction, turning left to Nho Quan junction to Gia Van commune, Gia Vien district. Van Long Lagoon is located at the foot of the dyke. Here, visitors buy tickets which include renting the boat to go sightseeing in two directions. The main direction is to go Kem Tram – Hang Bong with many beautiful landscapes. The second direction is for the animal lovers as they can meet the rare langurs drinking water or passing tree branches. There is also a very interesting destination, which is the stork garden, about 2km west of the boat docking.</span></span></p>

From above, the giant rock rapids with hexagonal shape, tied together in the shape of a giant bee wax that was made in a perfect and solid construction. Another story says that the huge prismatic rocks are skillfully stacked on each other by a giant deity. However, this natural wonder has a mythical tale of a treasure being turned into rocks.</span></span></p>

<p><strong>Hanoi (VNA)</strong> – This year’s long Lunar New Year (Tet) holidays have made for a busy tourism market, with higher sales in tours both inside the country and abroad.</p>
<p>According to domestic travel firms, they have so far nearly completed their sale plans for the upcoming nine-day Tet holiday, with customers mostly young families.</p>
<p>This year, their sales are estimated to increase 30 percent over the same time in 2018, with tours combining hotel bookings and entertainment tickets a big hit.</p>
<p>The most popular domestic destinations during the holiday include warm areas in the central and southern region such as Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Da Nang and Hoi An.</p>
<p>This year, a large number of foreign tours have been booked, mostly to Japan, the Republic of Korea, Taiwan (China) and China, along with other destinations such as Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Myanmar, Bhutan and India.</p>
<p>Vietravel Hanoi Vice Director Pham Van Bay said this year, the prices of tours have been kept unchanged or only increased slightly.</p>
<p>He said that since November 2018, the company has offered more than 300 domestic and foreign Tet tours to increase choices for customers.</p>
<p>Diverse promotion programmes have been offered by travel firms. Saigontourist has launched a “golden week” with 10 million VND discounts for long tours abroad, or a reduction of 500,000 VND for each customer for Tet tours.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, HanoiRedtours has designed special tours targeting youngsters and office workers with easy routes through famous destinations at home and abroad. At the same time, customers of Fiditour will receive total promotion value of up to 4 million VND until January 25.</p>
<p>To ensure safety for travellers abroad, travel firms advised them to be well-prepared for their tours and strictly abide by the law of the host country and follow guidance of tour guides.-VNA</p>

<p>Accordingly, the Exhibition House of Provincial Culture Center will organise an ornamental plant exhibition between February 1 and 9, Chinese chess from February 7 and 9 at the 2/4 Square, while a number ofstreet art performances will be held at Tue Tinh Park from February 5 to 14.</p>
<p>The highlight of the cultural activities will be the 120-minute art program held to welcome in the New Year at 2/4 Square in Nha Trang on Lunar New Year’s Eve.</p>
<p>In addition, the Center for Conservation of Monuments in Khanh Hoa province will organise performances of traditional musical instruments, calligraphy art, as well as ceramic making and brocade weaving techniques of the Cham people from February 5-10.</p>
<p>There will be an exhibition displaying collections of the Khanh Hoa Museum from January 29 for visitors and a swap and meet market on February 9.</p>
<p>Khanh Hoa is one of the localities set to attract a large number of local and foreign visitors during Tet. The province is hugely popular among guests with foreign arrivals coming mostly from Russia, China, the Republic of Korea, and Japan.</p>

Along the roads, and around the Xuan Huong Lake, Da Lat market, in the Valley of Love, Truc Lam monastery, Hai Ba Trung street, Tran Phu street, all are the “domain” of special jacaranda flower.<br />
This gentle flower has become a specialty only in Da Lat. So many travelers have to exclaim “The jacaranda road this afternoon / shadow leaves cover a corner of life” – Mien Thuy poet has planted in the heart of readers poetic images like these.</span></span></p>

<p><span><span>And indeed, partly thanks to jacaranda flower, Da Lat welcomes millions of domestic and international visitors every year this time. All are delighted to be able to take a walk on the road covered with purple flower petals or watch the beautiful moments of the jacaranda flower blossom. Especially, watching purple flowers at every moment of the day gives visitors many different emotions.<br />
The purple color of the jacaranda in the early morning, charming at sunset and in the middle of the night makes Da Lat so captivating. Many people liken jacaranda flower when bloomed to the young women of Da Lat, romantic and lyrical. The flower evokes nostalgia to those people from Da Lat but living away from the city.</span></span></p>

<p><span><span>For a long time, jacaranda is considered “specialty” of the kingdom of flowers Da Lat. Because, throughout the country, only in the Highlands, where the climate is cool enough that the fragile flowers could live.<br />
The jacaranda originated in South America and was brought to the Highlands by engineer Luong Van Sau (graduated from the French Agricultural School Versailles – France in the 1960s). However, the first jacaranda trees survived only a year. They bloomed, but they did not bear fruit because there is no bird in Da Lat to help pollinate. In 1995, Dr. Ha Ngoc Mai brought jacaranda seed from Australia to nurse in the city and since then, about 3,000 trees have been planted, covering Da Lat streets.</span></span></p>

<p>(VEN) - Vietnam’s tourism experienced sharp growth in 2018, spurred by Politburo Resolution 08 on development of tourism into a spearhead economic sector, and the new Law on Tourism that went into effect on January 1, 2018.</p>
<div>
<p>Data from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) show that Vietnam welcomed a record high 15.6 million foreign visitors in 2018, up 19.9 percent or 2.6 million people from 2016. Some 12.5 million people arrived by air (up 14.4 percent), 2.8 million visitors came over land (up 59.6 percent), and 215,300 tourists arrived on cruise ships (down 16.8 percent). More than 12.07 million of the visitors were from Asian countries (up 23.7 percent), 2.04 million visitors from Europe (up 8.1 percent), 903,800 visitors from America (up 10.6 percent), and 42,800 visitors from Africa (up 19.2 percent).</p>
<p>Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien said the impressive tourism achievements are attributed to Vietnam’s tourism promotion policies and activities in such major markets as Australia, Japan, Europe, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Other factors include visa exemptions for visitors from Western European countries from 2018-2021, electronic visa or e-visa for visitors from 40 countries and territories, participation in international tourism fairs, and visits by tourist market survey delegations.</p>
<p>Investment in infrastructure, including large international-standard projects by strategic investors, has contributed greatly to improving the image, quality and competitiveness of Vietnamese tourism. The development of tourist offerings and consistent, planned investment attraction have contributed to the formation of tourist development zones including Hanoi – Quang Ninh – Hai Phong – Ninh Binh; Thua Thien Hue – Da Nang – Quang Nam; Khanh Hoa – Lam Dong; and Binh Thuan – Ba Ria-Vung Tau – Ho Chi Minh City. Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, the central coastal city of Da Nang, the northeastern province of Quang Ninh, and the southern central province of Khanh Hoa have become major tourist centers.</p>
<p>The sector has strengthened public-private partnerships to expand the scale of Vietnamese pavilions at international fairs while coordinating with diplomatic organizations to stimulate tourism promotion in foreign countries. Vietnam ranked sixth in the world in terms of visitor growth in 2017 and was named Asia’s Leading Destination for the first time by the World Travel Awards (WTA) in 2018. The Asia-Pacific association of tourist journalists named Vietnam a newly emerging destination for luxury tourism, while the country has become the most attractive golf tourist destination in the Asia-Pacific region.</p>
<p>Future plans call for further improvement of tourism promotion activities at home and abroad, development of tourist offerings with a high added value, such as marine, cultural and ecological attractions.</p>
<p>Minister Thien is directing the industry to strengthen the management of tourist service facilities to improve the image and competitiveness of Vietnam’s tourism.</p>

A local grower says he plans to rear fish in ponds to provide visitors with a fresh experience. A local gardener believes the bad weather this year has affected the crop of kumquat trees Despite the hot weather, kumquat gardens have welcomed a large number of visitors from Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, and Vinh Long. Currently, some garden owners in Lai Vung are participating in cooperatives to promote tourism in the region. Entrance ticket cost about VND50,000 with visitors being able to enjoy some local fruit. Some gardens have created spaces featuring the daily life of locals in the western region for visitors to experience. A local gardener says he welcomes more than 100 visitors each day. Kumquat are sold at VND35,000 per kilo.</p>
