<p>Phu Yen with many beautiful landscapes and local cuisines attracted many local and international tourists. The province has made big achievements since Vietnamese movie which filmed in the central coast province of Phu Yen, “Toi thay hoa vang tren co xanh” (I see yellow flowers on the green grass) has been screened and awarded in the country and abroad, added Tam.</p>

<p>Mr. Tam affirmed in the upcoming times, tourists would be provided tours with the stability of prices and high-quality services.</p>

<p>Ms. Nguyen Thi Khanh, the HCMC Tourism Association shared at the ceremony that Phu Yen tourism sector should continue connecting tourist sites between Phu Yen and neighboring provinces and the province should invest infrastructure development to welcome more and more tourists in next time.</p>

<p>She added that the program targets to connect the localities in the country, hoping that the localities would continue luring more and more domestic visitors.</p>

<p>Mr. Le Quoc Trung, deputy chairman of Sai Gon Railway Company said since the beginning of the year to date, Sai Gon Railway has sold over 40,000 train tickets, a threefold increase over the previous years.</p>

Each canoe is capable of carrying 20 passengers at maximum speeds of 50kph, Saigontourist said at the launch ceremony at the city’s Tan Cang tourism area.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: 16px">The high-speed boats will bring tourists from Tan Cang to Cu Chi, Binh Duong, Can Gio and District 9 at a costs ranging from VND750,000 (US$33) to VND2.14 million ($94) per adult, and VND560,000 ($25) to VND1.61 million ($70) per child.</span></p>
<p></p>
<p>While these destinations are not new to river tourism, Saigontourist says several new features on their tour routes will attract new visitors.</p>
<p></p>
<p>One attraction featured on a Saigontourist canoe tour along the Tan Cang – Cu Chi route is a stop in Binh Duong to tour an orchard and ancient house. The former Bach Dang – Cu Chi river tour doesn’t stop in Binh Duong.</p>
<p></p>
<p>Similarly, the route to Can Gio will not stop at the Dan Xay ecotourism area, a common feature in other tour packages.  Instead, tourists will be taken to Can Thanh, the center of the outlying district, where they can enjoy the local market lifestyle.</p>
<p></p>
<p>Ho Chi Minh City has long been trying to boost its river tourism. Several routes have been launched but all have ceased since the shutdown of Bach Dang wharf in District 1.</p>
<p></p>
<p>In the first nine months of this year, Ho Chi Minh City welcomed 4.2 million international passengers, up 16 percent from the same period last year, according to a report by the municipal administration.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">NDO – Hue city in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue opened its second walking route on Pham Ngu Lao – Chu Van An – Vo Thi Sau streets (formerly known as Tay (foreigner) streets) on the night of September 29 after several months of preparation.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">Operating on the last three days of the week, the route will operate from 6pm until 2am of the next morning during Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, the route will open for pedestrians from 6pm to 12am.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">The street stretches over 1km, of which Pham Ngu Lao is 215m long, Chu Van An 350m and Vo Thi Sau 480m.</p>
<p><br /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">In addition to rearranging tourism services, the city authorities are also mobilising and supporting household businesses to open new forms of services.</p>
<p><br /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">The route also features street art and music performances, along with a typical Hue cuisine area.</p>
<p><br /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">The city will also arranges parking areas for visitors’ vehicles, while providing free of charge parking for locals in these three streets.</p>
<p><br /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">Nguyen Van Thanh, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, said that in order to open the pedestrian area on the famous streets of Hue, the city has spent over VND50 billion investing in lighting system, traffic signs and compensation for over 1km long route.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">Thanh expressed his hope that the new walking street will link with the Nguyen Dinh Chieu walking route – the first pedestrian street in Hue, and the upcoming walking street on Truong Tien Bridge, which holds much potential and value for tourism, which will form a tourist attraction at night in Hue.</p>

<p class="Normal">Major travel company Saigontourist launched seven new river tours on Thursday, offering voyages to rural attractions in the city and the neighboring province of Binh Duong.</p>
<p class="Normal">The one-day trips set off from Tan Cang Port in Binh Thanh District and take visitors away from the urban noise to major rural attractions including the mangrove forests in Can Gio District, the Cu Chi Tunnels, temples, orchards and garden houses where fish, birds and monkeys can be found within touching distance.</p>
<p class="Normal">Each tour can accomodate between six and 25 people at a time and costs VND750,000-VND2,099,000 ($33-92) per person, with a 25 percent discount for children.</p>

<p class="Normal">Saigon also plans to organize a whale worshipping festival next week to attract tourists.</p>
<p class="Normal">Vietnamese fishermen respect whales as the guardians of the sea, referring to them as <em>Ong Ca, </em>or Grandfather Fish.</p>
<p class="Normal">Those in the city’s coastal district of Can Gio hold a festival each year <span>known as </span><em>Nghinh Ong </em><span>to show their respect</span><span>.</span></p>
<p class="Normal">The festival peaks on the full-moon of the eighth lunar month, which falls between October 3-5 this year, and will feature boat parades, exhibitions, traditional art performances, games and a street serving seafood.</p>
<p class="Normal">Last year, the festival drew 73,000 visitors, and officials expect a 20 percent jump this year.</p>

<p class="Normal">The city will host an international marathon on November 26, taking runners through the city’s most famous and historic destinations including the Saigon Zoo, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Central Post Office and Nguyen Hue Walking Street.</p>
<p class="Normal">The 130-year-old Central Post Office and the wartime Cu Chi Tunnels have been named by TripAdvisor users among the top landmarks in Asia.</p>
<p class="Normal">Participants will have to pay between VND850,000-1,750,000 ($37-77) to take part in the race, which will finish at a new urban area in District 2.</p>
<p class="Normal">Saigon is the country’s top tourist destination for foreigners, whose numbers are expected to jump 15 percent to six million this year.</p>
<p class="Normal">The city is still trying to come up with solutions for problems such as traffic and street attacks, but it is proving to be a destination that has something for everyone.</p>
<p class="Normal">It was named one of the <a href="http://bit.ly/2fXOX9p" target="_blank">friendliest</a> destinations for solo travelers earlier this year by <em>Airbnb</em>, while top U.S. lifestyle magazine <em>Food and Wine</em> named it an ideal place for <a href="http://bit.ly/2hBwjYG" target="_blank">retiree travelers</a>.</p>
<p class="Normal">Price of Travel, a travel cost database, in April ranked HCMC the world’s third cheapest city, where backpackers only need $18.33 a day for meals, beer, a place to stay, public transport and an entrance fee to a top attraction.</p>

<p class="Normal">To little surprise, Hoi An has been named among the most affordable.</p>
<p class="Normal">Rankings are based on the minimum required budget for 10 holiday items U.K. tourists are likely to purchase, including a cup of coffee, a pint of beer, a bottle of water, sun cream, insect repellent, and a three-course dinner for two with a bottle of wine.</p>
<p class="Normal">At total cost of $102.86, this year the UNESCO-listed town in central Vietnam has jumped six spots from the previous year to fifth place worldwide and became the most affordable destination in Southeast Asia, according to Post Office’s Holiday Money.</p>
<p class="Normal">In Hoi An, for just $3.54, travelers can have a taste of beer or they can pay $2.52 for a cup of coffee.</p>
<p class="Normal">Affordable romantic dinner for two also makes Hoi An as a budget-friendly city where tourists can enjoy a date night for less than $70.</p>

<p>Air New Zealand – the World Best Airline 2017 by AirlineRatings.com, has announced it will continue to operate its seasonal non-stop service to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, following strong customer demand.</p>

<p>For its 2018 season, the airline will operate two direct services a week between Auckland and Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesdays and Saturdays, using its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.  This will be the third consecutive year of Vietnam operations.</p>

<p>Air New Zealand chief revenue officer Cam Wallace said that there has been a huge appetite for travel to Vietnam by Kiwis since the airline introduced a direct seasonal service to Ho Chi Minh City from Auckland in 2016.</p>

<p>“It’s been fantastic to see so many travelers enthusiastic about Ho Chi Minh as a destination as it’s a great gateway to Vietnam’s tourism experience.  Demand for travel to Vietnam has been particularly strong in the July school holidays,” Wallace said.</p>

<p>“Vietnam is one of the most affordable destinations for Kiwis and offers a memorable experience whether you are flying solo, as a couple, a family or a group of friends.  It’s not surprising to us that it is starting to become a popular hot spot on the holiday calendar,” he said.</p>

<p>According to Vietnam’s tourism statistic, in the first seven months of 2017, the number of Kiwis travelers to Vietnam is 27,203 which increases 119.5 per cent year on year. Meanwhile, number of Vietnamese visitors to New Zealand has also been growing rapidly throughout the years with more than 6,000 arrivals by 2016. This shows a strong connection between the two countries and great potentials for the flight route between New Zealand and Vietnam.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">Prices for the tours range from VND 750,000 (USD 33) to VND 2.1 million (USD 92.4), including light meal, lunch, local fruit, bottled water, tour guide, entrance fees and pick-up costs.</p>

is offering a warm welcome to visitors at the Top Resa international tourism<br />
fair, which runs in Paris from September 26 to 29.<br />

of ancient walls and tiled roofs inspired by Hanoi’s old quarter. The space is<br />
filled with the sound of folk music performed live by two Vietnamese artists.<br />

On the sidelines of the fair, Vietnam<br />
organised a conference to promote Hanoi tourism, where Vietnamese Ambassador to<br />
France Nguyen Ngoc Son called on travel agencies in Paris to extend their reach<br />

The diplomat also lauded operations of<br />
French tour operators in Vietnam, hoping their success will encourage more<br />
French businesses to come to the country.<br />

million foreigners last year, up 23 percent against 2015. In the first eight<br />
month of 2017, foreign arrivals to the city reached 3.7 million, an annual<br />

<p>Just 10km from the city centre, Dien Khanh is one of Nha Trang’s most popular tourist sites. Apart from relics of an ancient citadel, the site includes Thien Loc Pagoda, Trinh Phong Temple and beautiful landscapes of Chua Mountain and surrounding rivers and streams. </p>
<p>Home to the local banh uot (steamed thin rice pancakes) which is sold by shops along the 1A Highway, giving one street the name Banh Uot Dien Khanh for more than 50 years. </p>
<p>Nguyen Thi Lien, 72, a pancake maker in Dien Khanh, said that urbanisation had killed off traditional baking in the village. Visitors wishing to enjoy an original and tasty dish now had to wander around looking for a supply.</p>

<p>Lien said many rural makers, including hers, boast a large house and garden in which they built an oven to make the dish – and added tables and tools. All very simple, but visitors arrive not just to enjoy a good dish, but to relax in comfort. </p>
<p>The suburban version of the pancakes is different from that made downtown, in which the pancakes contain salted and shredded shrimp and fried onions, with dipping sauce made from mam nem (a type of fish sauce, made from small fish or small shrimp). </p>
<p>Lien recalled her mother often woke up early in the morning to go to the beach to buy fresh fish such as tuna and amberjack (a kind of sea fish known locally as ca bo), soaking the insides with salt and fermenting it for three days and then drying it in the sunlight for another three days until it becomes a thick liquid with a special fragrance. </p>
<p>“My mother’s dipping sauce became famous more than half a century ago thanks to her skills,” said Lien, noting that she knew how to mix fried onion, garlic, spice and the mam ruot to become an unforgettable dipping sauce. </p>
<p>Tran Van Hao, from Ha Noi, said he was lucky to enjoy the rural pancakes dipped in mam ruot, which has no fishy smell and is more tasty than dipping in mam nem. </p>
<p>“It is more enjoyable when minced mangos and tiny chilis are added,” said Hao, noting that with a price of only VND5,000 per plate, he could eat several plates.</p>

<p>At remote Thanh Minh and Phu Loc villages, banh uot makers offer added a special dipping sauce made from fermented fresh ponyfish, giving the dish a distinct flavour. Young gourmet Hoang Thu Hien, said apart from the sauce she liked the fermented ponyfish because it was tiny but sweet and it gave her a good appetite.  </p>
<p>Pancake makers in these villages also offer soya sauce for vegetarians on the first and middle days of the lunar month.   </p>
<p>To Thi Bay, 64, said soya sauce made by original villagers was more tasty and nutty compared with others. “My recipe is to quick fry minced citronella, tomato and fresh herbs and then pour the soya sauce and spice and stir well. Whether the dipping sauce is tasty or not depends on each maker’s skills,” said Bay. </p>
<p>She said  she was trying to teach her children how to make a good dish, particularly the dipping sauce, the soul of the food, in an effort to preserve the venture created by her grandmother more than half of the century ago.” </p>
<p>Those don’t have time to visit her banh uot shop in Phu Loc Village, should enjoy the dish at a shop near the Ong Bo Bridge on the Nha Trang-Thanh Road where guests can also choose aromatic flavor dipping sauces of mam ruot or mam nem. </p>

<p>The city announced a waterway tourism development scheme several years ago and has introduced abundant waterway tourism products to tourists. However, the suspension of Bach Dang Wharf among other reasons has prompted cancellations of many waterway tours.</p>
<p>At a meeting of the municipal People’s Committee on socio-economic performance in the first nine months and key missions in the remaining three months of the year held on September 25, the HCMC Department of Tourism proposed the city government create favorable conditions to build some more wharfs, piers and stations for boats.</p>
<p>The city government at the meeting on September 25 assigned the Department of Tourism to coordinate with relevant agencies to improve the quality of tourism products and services in the city in the rest of the year, including waterway tourism.</p>
<p>On September 28, local travel companies will introduce seven new waterways and five new motor boats for carrying tourists on these routes.</p>
<p>Chiem Thanh Long, director of Binh Quoi Tourist Village, the investor of the five motor boats, said the boats with a capacity of 20 people each will carry tourists from Tan Cang to Cu Chi, Binh Duong, Can Gio and District 9. The company will add more tourist attractions and services to make these tours more attractive.</p>
<p>Specifically, tourists taking the Bach Dang Wharf-Cu Chi tour can visit gardens in Binh Duong Province in addition to Cu Chi District. <p>NDO/ VNA – On September 27, the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and budget airlines Jetstar Pacific and Vietjet Air began selling air fares for domestic flights serving the Tet holiday (Lunar New Year), which falls in February, 2018.</p>

<p>During January 31-March 2, 2018, Vietnam Airlines will offer 1.4 million seats on all domestic routes, up 127,700 seats (equivalent to 694 flights) from the same time last year.</p>

The village emerged 500 years ago close to the Han River with several families of fishermen. The fishing village gradually grew from 12 cottages in 1957 to more than 700 buildings and houses to accommodate nearly 4,000. <p>Dang Van Dieu, 83, from An Hai Bac Ward, Da Nang City, in central Viet Nam, retired from fishing as the region went through a rapid face-lift.</p>
<p>Dieu, the fifth generation of fishermen living in An Don, on the Han River bank, said the village was built 500 years ago with only a few cottages, but was now home to nearly 4,000 living in 15ha of space with almost no proper infrastructure.</p>
<p>The village, home to the last community of fishermen in downtown Da Nang, has no public transport and few other services, including fire stations and ambulances.</p>
<p>The village, which is now surrounded by four crowded streets – Tran Hung Dao, Ngo Quyen, An Don and Nguyen The Loc – can be found within a short walk of the Han Bridge, but strangers can get easily lost in the narrow alleys and forked paths.</p>
<p>“The village is maybe the last community left behind the rapid urbanisation of  Da Nang over the past two decades. From 12 cottages in the in 1957, more than 700 buildings and houses have since been erected,” Dieu said.</p>
<p>“Residents from other localities have flocked there in recent years and their new homes have gradually left the area in chaos.”</p>
<p>Dieu said the city had planned to convert the village into an urban area in early 2000, but a lack of funds ended plans. He said village traffic was only for motorbikes, bicycle riders and pedestrians.</p>
<p>The old fisherman recalled that once most villagers earned their living from inshore fishing. He said he was the main breadwinner for his family of six children until 1990, when he stopped fishing as stocks declined.</p>
<p>“We used paddle-driven boats to fish in coastal area from Da Nang to Lang Co in Hue from evening until early next morning. Fish went on sale at the Han and Con markets around 3am,” he said.</p>

<p>“The trade improved with engine-driven boats for offshore fishing in the 1960s. I did better for my children, but none of them followed in my footsteps,” he said.</p>
<p>“Fishing requires plenty of skill and patience as well as iron muscles in fighting against rough seas. It’s not a job for everyone. My children started their own careers with more profitable businesses.”</p>
<p>Vo Van Thanh, 82, said the scenery of the fishing village had disappeared as quickly as old Da Nang had disappeared.</p>
<p>“The Han River was narrowed down as land was reserved for road development and buildings. We followed the river to the estuary for fishing trips. The village is a few hundreds metres from the river bank where our boat dock is now on Tran Hung Dao Street,” Thanh said.</p>
<p>“The village was easily seen from the river bank, but it now is overshadowed by high-rise buildings and hotels.”</p>

<p>The old village is now only recognised by a temple honouring the village founder in Tran Hung Dao Street, 500m from the Han swing bridge. The temple was built in 1785, when the village appeared on the river bank.</p>
<p>Nguyen Van Muon, 68, who is head of the village festival committee, said the temple was a small building before the first restoration in 1971.</p>
<p>“We host the annual village festival on the twelfth day of the June lunar month to mark the death of the village’s founder,” Muon said.</p>
<p>“We still preserve old sand stones and coins found in excavations from an old An Hai Citadel in the east of the village,” he said. “A fresh-water well, which was dug 200 years ago, is still preserved.”</p>

<p>Le Van Bieu, 85, said he was told by his father that an old citadel was built in the village as one of two citadels guarding Da Nang from 1813.</p>
<p>It was built at the same time as Dien Hai Citadel on the other side of the Han River. The two military outposts were erected in the 12th year of King Gia Long’s reign (1813), near the mouth of the Han River, according to documents in the city’s museum.</p>
<p>The two citadels were built to control access to Da Nang port and acted as an important defence position.</p>
<p>According to the city’s heritage centre, An Hai Citadel was build from compacted soil in 1813 before being restructured in brick in 1830.</p>
<p>An Hai Citadel, smaller than Dien Hai Citadel, was stationed by a group of 500 soldiers under commander General Nguyen Van Thanh. The citadel was destroyed in 1860 after the French withdrew.</p>
<p>Old fisherman Dieu said two cannons found during excavations, were on display with an 11-cannon collection at Dien Hai Citadel – now Da Nang’s Museum in Tran Phu Street.</p>
<p>Muon, 68, the festival organiser, said a flag pole was built in the village to send signals to guards at the main Dien Hai Citadel on the other bank of the Han recognising the original country of ship coming to Da Nang port.</p>
<p>The flag-pole now is still preserved in the village centre, in line with the tomb of a whale.</p>

<p>Nguyen Van My, a photographer, in Son Tra District, has suggested that restoring the old fishing village would make it a tourism hub.</p>
<p>“I was born in a fishing village in Tho Quang Ward in Da Nang, so it’s sad if they all disappear under rapid urbanisation. A restoration plan is also needed to recover old vestiges,” My said.</p>
<p>“We should restore the old scenery of a fishing village to introduce visitors to the old community,” he said.</p>

<p>“We can decorate the area brightly as an art centre, home-stay and live museum. Local residents could earn from tourism services, while a piece of the old village would be preserved forever.”</p>
<p>My himself decorated his own basement café into a fishing village museum in Son Tra District.</p>
<p>He said former An Don Village would be an attractive site in Da Nang where old fishing villages had vanished.</p>
<p>“We could live well in apartments with good facilities in modern life, but we would lose our ancestor’s treasure forever.” </p>

<p>A collection of 11 cannons unearthed at Dien Hai Citadel and An Hai Citadel from 1979-2008 is officially recognised as a national treasure.</p>
<p>The iron guns, on display at the Da Nang Museum on the old location of the Dien Hai Citadel, were cast during in the 19th century.</p>
<p>The cannon collection is one of 30 cannons set up at the citadel to protect Da Nang against French-Spanish coalition forces in 1858-1860.</p>
<p>The citadel is connected to the famous general Nguyen Tri Phuong (1800-1873) under the Nguyen Dynasty who commanded army and people in fighting against the French-Spanish forces.</p>
