<h2>While the popular ‘pho’ has gained the coveted status of being what marketers would call “top of the list” whenever one comes to Hanoi, Saigoneers have crowned their own dish, which many mistake for ‘pho’: meet ‘hu tieu’.</h2>
<p>Hanoians love <a href="http://bit.ly/29spHDW">‘pho’</a>, but ‘hu tieu’ enjoys a monopoly over southern bellies. When you’re in Saigon or elsewhere in the Mekong Delta region, there’s bound to be ‘hu tieu’ noodle soup. ‘Hu tieu’ (called Kuy Teav or Phnom Penh noodle soup) is a Cambodian-Chinese concoction that Saigoneers have ‘borrowed’ and changed to suit their tastes.</p>
<p>The main difference between the two dishes are the noodles. Alhough both come from rice, ‘hu tieu’ noodles are thinner and chewier.</p>
<p>In addition, beef, the meat used in pho, is not the protein of choice in ‘hu tieu’. The Chinese prefer pork, shrimp and crab meat, and add bean sprouts to their list of ingredients.</p>

<p>The noodles in a bowl of ‘hu tieu’ are chewier than clear tapioca noodles, opaque white rice noodles and thin Chinese egg noodles. The toppings may include pork, pork ribs, pork offal, shrimp, squid, wonton dumplings, fried garlic, fried shallots and scallions.</p>
<p>It also has a “dried” verison, is lightly chewy with a stronger sauce than the “wet” variety. At present, there are about 20 different types of ‘hu tieu’ in Saigon for diners to select from.</p>

<p><strong>Hanoi (VNA)</strong> – The Conde Nast Traveler magazine has listed three renowned destinations in Vietnam in the 50 most striking places across Asia.</p>
<p>The breathtaking sites are the foggy town of Sa Pa in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai, Hoi An ancient city in the central province of Quang Nam, and Ha Long Bay in the northern province of Quang Ninh.</p>
<p>Besides fresh and cool air, Sa Pa is famous for its rich culture, the magazine said.</p>
<p>With mossy houses, wooden bridges and ancient wells, Hoi An is always a magic magnet for both Vietnamese and foreign tourists, it added.</p>
<p>Ha Long Bay, which has been recognised as a world heritage site by UNESCO, features thousands of limestone karstsand islets in various sizes and shapes.</p>
<p>Rounding on the list of top 50 include Bunaken Marine Park in Indonesia, Taj Mahal mausoleum in India, Nara Park in Japan, Luang Prabang in Laos, JeJu Islands in the Republic of Korea, and Langkawi Island in Malaysia.-VNA</p>

<p><em>VietNamNet Bridge – Hang Tien 2 (Fairy Cave 2), discovered by British experts recently, will be opened for tourism in July.</em></p>
<p>British experts recently announced the discovery of 57 new caves in the central province of Quang Binh, the home of the world’s largest cave of Son Doong, including the Fairy Cave 2 in Minh Hoa district. The cave is 2,519 meters long and 94 meters deep.</p>
<p>Tours to the Fairy Cave 2 will be exclusively organized by Chua Me Dat Company Limited as of July 2016.</p>
<p>The tour will be two or four days.</p>
<p>After temporarily closing, tours to the Fairy Cave 1 willresume in July.</p>
<p>First explored by experts from the Royal British Caving Association in 1994, the cave consists of stalagmites that at times look like terraced rice fields. As one of the largest in the Tu Lan Cave system, Fairy Cave, with a total length of nearly 3 km, includes two branches – Fairy Cave 1 and Fairy Cave 2 – which are connected by a primeval forest with huge trees. The cave is dry, with streams only appearing in the flood season.</p>
<p>The opening to the cave is quite wide, at 50 meters, and has a height of nearly 70 meters. Due to flooding in the wet season its walls are covered with a layer of sand.</p>
<p>The name ‘the Cave of Fairies’ is tinged with mystery. Legend has it that the cave was named after a myth: fairies from heaven descended to this land, and were so busy sightseeing they forgot their way back to heaven.</p>
<p>Local people discovered this place hundreds of years ago and consider it a sacred place to carry out important rituals in their spiritual life, including praying for rain and for peace. The sacred and mysterious factors retain this scenic beauty’s ancient and wild characteristics.</p>

<p>The pristine beach has become popular since it was chosen for shooting the renowned movie “Toi thay hoa vang tren co xanh.” (Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass) by overseas Vietnamese director Victor Vu.</p>
<p>Mon Beach lies at the foot of Mui Dien Lighthouse in Tan Phuoc Hamlet, Hoa Tam Commune, Tuy Hoa District.</p>
<p>In order to admire the beauty of the beach, tourists are recommended to start the trip in the early morning</p>
<p>To reach the site, tourists should follow a seaside road to reach Vung Ro Bay before continuing the trip to Ca Pass and then keep traveling on the road leading to Mui Dien Lighthouse, which is also called Dai Lanh Lighthouse.</p>
<p>Built in 1890 in Dai Lanh Cape, which is 100 meters above sea level, the lighthouse has a height of 26 meters and a diameter of five meters. It features a spiral wooden staircase with 108 steps.</p>
<p>From the cape, there is an asphalted road to Mon Beach.</p>
<p>Tourists will find it interesting when seeing a small stream flowing out from Ca Pass and running straight to the sea.</p>
<p>On the right side of the stream is a vast green grassland on the side of Dai Lanh Cape, highlighted by wild vegetation and rocks. All create a picturesque painting. If lucky enough, tourists can see cows eating grass in that painting and feel a true taste of a getaway trip.</p>
<p>The landscape on the opposite side of the stream is completely different. It is a unique space which cannot be easily found at other beaches. There, tourists can take a walk on a smooth yellow sand beach spanning 400 meters along small sand dunes, which change their shapes each time strong winds blow in from the sea.</p>
<p>On those sand dunes, the beauty of grass and wild vegetation captivates visitors for sure.</p>
