(Cinet)- The 2014 Prince Claus Award Ceremony took place in the house of the Netherlands Embassy in Hanoi, on April 09.
Painter Tran Luong (Vietnam) in the list of nine artists besides the artists of India, Peru, Turkey, Chile, Guatemala, Brazil, Philippines, Indonesia, Nigeria was co-awarded the Prince Claus.
“Luong is more than just an individual artist. He uses his artistic skills and his personality to create dynamism, a movement that inspires others, which has impact on the fabric of the surroundings. What would any society be without people like that?”
Artists keep faith with old-fashioned art Swiss artist duo with ‘Pong-Ping’ exhibition Through its annual Awards, the Prince Claus Fund honours outstanding artists, thinkers and organisations whose cultural and artistic actions have had a positive impact on their countries’ development.
It is the third time that this prize is awarded to a Vietnamese artist.
According to the Prince Claus Awards committee, Luong, born in 1960, receives the award for his dedication to helping develop performance and video arts in Vietnam, and his commitment to freedom of expression, international dialogue, community enrichment and nurturing younger generations.
A special exhibition of Luong’s artworks will be open to the public at the EU Delegation to Vietnam (Lotte Centre, West Wing, 24th floor, No 54 Lieu Giai, Ba Dinh district, Hanoi) from April 10th – 17th, 2015 .
